Tratec Solutions was responsible for engineering, production and installation of the main components for the bath processing plant at the new Hydro Aluminium Karmøy pilot factory.
The bath processing plant to be supplied by Tratec Solutions handles the bath (cryolite) from the electrolysis cell, and until it is crushed and screened in silos ready for re-use.
Cryolite, or what we refer to as bath, is used in the manufacture of aluminium to cover the melted aluminium. This process is required to keep the melting temperature low and reduce energy consumption. The bath material is recycled by extracting the material from the melting tub at the same time as extracting the used anode to be replaced with a new one. Subsequently, the bath material is cooled, crushed, screened and stored (bath handling) before being reused as a cover during a new melting operation.
A bath processing plant usually includes the following products:

- Conveyors for horizontal and vertical transport
- Silos
- Feeding system
Tratec Solutions has also had the delivery of key parts in the anode production at the Hydro Karmøy Aluminium plant.
